Only till recently that BSNL/MTNL brought down the mobile ISD rates to Rs. 1.75 per min, now the ISPs are willing to extend it further to 50 paise per min, if they are backed up by few right policies (like last mile connectivity). Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, popularly known as the WiMAX refers to broadband wireless networks that are based on the IEEE 802.16 standard, officially known as the WirelessMAN. Sometimes, the WiMAX network may be confused with the Wi-Fi network.
